This year the festival will also attempt to set a new Guinness World Record when top DJ Fergal Darcy from I 012 radio in Galway will try and put on 250 pairs of underwear in one hour beating the  record of 215 pairs currently held by a 10 year old American youngster.

Culchie Festival Mohill's most famous son, Padraic Og Gallagher, who runs Gallagher’s Boxty House Restaurant in Dublin’s Temple Bar since 1988, will be attempting a world record to create the largest-ever boiled boxty dumpling. The giant dish will contain 250 potatoes and take a whopping 36 hours to fully cook. The completed dumpling will weigh about 70kgs and measure one metre long and 0.5 metres wide.

Commenting on the Culchie Festival, festival organiser Paddy Rock said, “We are delighted Meteor have come on board as sponsor to join in on the mighty craic the Culchie Festival has to offer.  We have a brilliant weekend lined up for our special anniversary year with this being our 21st. On top of our record breaking attempts, the festival will also be looking to find Leitrim's First Super Gran which will be MC’d by RTE's Paddy O'Gorman.  Other events include the selection of the Junior Culchie, the Culchie Cocktail Trail in local pubs, Kulchie Karaoke, the Culchie Fashion Show and Culchie Tug of War”.

The Culchie festival is so unique and we are looking forward to sharing the fun with our customers on our official facebook and twitter pages where we will be posting updates as they happen, so no matter where our customers are, they can join in on the craic via their handset.
